Youth Development Professional-Summer Program
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Implements, supervises and assists the Unit Director with planning and evaluating activities provided within the five core areas such as Character & Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, Health & Lifeskills, Sports Fitness and Recreation, and the Arts.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Prepare Youth for Successes
1. Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:
· Promote and stimulate program participation;
· Register new members and participate in their club orientation process;
· Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
Program Development and Implementation
2. Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for members and visitors.
3. Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the unit at all times. Assist in program/activity reports.
4. Maintain order and discipline of members in unit.
5. Maintain proper care and upkeep of all inside& outside games/equipment, and make necessary reports related to the repairs to the immediate supervisor.
Supervision
6. Ensure a productive work environment by participating in monthly staff meetings.
7. Ensure written reports are turned in to the Unit Director.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participate in special programs and/or events.
2. May be required to drive Club van.
3. Follow all confidentiality guidelines.
4. Additional responsibilities & duties as determined by the Executive & Unit Directors.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External: Welcomes Club guests, members and parents. Otherwise refer additional issues to the Unit Director.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma/GED or working towards this.
- Experience/Desire in working with children.
- Knowledge/Ability to learn of Youth Development Strategy.
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
- Ability to deal with the general public.
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- Valid State Drivers License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:
You must be physically capable of managing active children. This may include standing for long periods of time, bending and stretching, lifting up to 50lbs, and walking long distances.
